Private foundations" whose driving force is sustainable development have until 4 July 2023 to apply for the €2.4 million call for partnerships launched by French Development Agency (AFD).

French Development Agency (AFD) is continuing to support the acceleration of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Paris, France-based financial institution will release €2.4 million in 2024 to fund projects focusing on gender equality (SDG5), access to water and sanitation (SDG6), climate resilience (SDG13), biodiversity protection (SDG15) and digital connectivity, among others.

Each project selected will receive financial support of between €200,000 and €500,000, as well as technical assistance for its implementation. The funds are intended primarily for “private foundations” that work with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and civil society organisations (CSOs), particularly in Africa.

The priority countries in AFD’s call for partnerships, which closes on 4 July 2023, include Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic (CAR), Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Djibouti, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Haiti, Liberia, Madagascar, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal and Togo.
