With its 5 million inhabitants, Johannesburg, South Africa's largest city, will host the sixth Smart Cities Summit, which opens on 27 June 2023 with a focus on climate solutions.

What can technology do to address the urban planning and sustainable development issues raised by population growth? This question will be at the heart of the “Smart Cities Summit”, which is being held from 27 to 29 June 2023 in Johannesburg, South Africa. In its sixth year, the event will bring together investors, urban planners and academics, as well as digital solution providers from several African countries.

“The Facilities Management Exhibition at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg will showcase suppliers of products and services to ensure that all systems in the built environment work together seamlessly. The latest trends will also be highlighted to provide outstanding opportunities for the private and public sectors to reinvent urban areas,” say the organisers.

The Johannesburg Summit on African Smart Cities will also be an opportunity for African scientists to debate the impact of global warming on lifestyles in metropolises. To this end, several conferences are scheduled, including on digital water management and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into transport services.
