Sustainable forest management remains one of the options put forward by the Cameroon Environment Observatory (CEW) to protect biodiversity. The organization, which works to improve governance in the management of forest resources in Cameroon, is looking for an individual consultant in IMET (Integrated Management Effectiveness Tool). This tool promotes a proactive, results-oriented approach through components that can describe and quantify the environment and its evolution.
Open to both sexes, this call for applications, which runs until October 8th, 2021, is part of the project “Use of the IMET tool for the identification of management priorities for the Ngog-Mapubi and Dibang intermunicipal forest”. This project was implemented by the WEG and financed by the Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management Program Action Fund (Biopama).
The results of this project should inform the decisions of local elected officials in the Nyong-et-Kéllé department in the Central region of Cameroon, in terms of development and management of the Ngog-Mapubi and Dibang communal forest.

This is the second time that the Ngog-Mapubi and Dibang communal forest has undergone an IMET assessment. The first assessment was conducted in June 2020. Still an initiative of the WEG, conducted with the support of the Observatory of Central African Forests (Ofac), a specialized unit of the Central African Forest Commission (Comifac) that makes available updated and relevant data on the region’s forests and ecosystems, aimed at informing policymaking and promoting better governance and sustainable natural resource management.
