The software was launched on October 1st, 2020 in Lomé, the capital of Togo. It is called “Kya-SolsDesign” and is developed by Kya-Energy Group (KEG), a supplier of solar energy systems in West Africa.

According to the company, Kya-SolsDesign will enable technicians operating in the field of solar energy to successfully use the correct dimensions for their equipment, thus improving the quality of solar energy installations. “Existing programmes are economically accessible but technically unreliable. Conversely, they can be reliable, but too expensive,” says Yao Azoumah, the director of Kya-Energy Group.
To ensure that the software is mastered, Kya-Energy Group would like the operation of Kya-SolsDesign to be studied in Togo’s universities and academic institutions. “We also want to reach out to national and international professionals specialising in renewable energy,” says Yao Azoumah.

This initiative is in line with the Togolese state’s vision of providing access to electricity for its entire population by 2030, 50% of which will be produced from renewable sources. Within this framework, the Togolese Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Agency (AT2ER) recently launched a call for applications for the acquisition of equipment and for the provision of services for the implementation, training and maintenance of an online off-grid management platform in Togo.
