The supply of drinking water is set to improve in Togo’s Maritime and Plateaux regions, thanks to a new water project. This is the objective of the Agence nationale d’appui au développement à la base (ANADEB), which recently launched a call for expressions of interest for the construction of drinking water supply systems (AEP) and “productive use of water” in 17 localities hosting multifunctional platforms with solar systems (PTFL).
Companies interested in the call for tenders have until 28 September to submit their bids. Once the construction contract has been signed, the company or companies selected should start work on four lots. The first lot will see the construction of five new water supply systems and “productive water use” in five localities in the Maritime region, namely Tanou, Bokocopé, Dzogadzé, Gapé-Adjido and Essè-Nadjé.

The other 12 water supply and “productive water use” schemes will be built in the Plateaux region, spread over the other three lots. The second lot of the water project will improve the drinking water supply to the residents of Ogou Agrani, Konadabo, Fangodo and Anani Copé. The final stage of the water project will improve the supply of drinking water to the inhabitants of Adogli, Litito, Akakégan and Témé Oulo, in the Plateaux region of Togo. The work is expected to last four months in each of the target localities “from the date of notification of the approved contract”, says ANADEB.
The public body, which reports to the Togolese Ministry of Grassroots Development, Handicrafts, Youth and Youth Employment, points out that the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the West African Development Bank (BOAD) are financing the work in these regions of southern and south-western Togo, through the Diesel Hybridisation of Multifunctional Platforms with Solar Systems Project (PHMD-PTFM).
