Registration for the very first edition of the training of young African women leaders in the energy sector is open at the CRL Yali Dakar. The four-week training programme will take place in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. This joint initiative of CRL Yali Dakar and Power Africa aims to provide young African women leaders in the energy sector, with knowledge that will enable them to better develop solutions to facilitate access to electricity on the continent. In addition, it will allow participants to develop their skills and careers in this field, while broadening their contacts.
The training is aimed at young Africans aged 18 to 35 who have shown leadership in the energy sector. They must also be promoters of a project or concept for a project in the domain.

Power Africa is an initiative that was set up by the US government to double access to electricity in sub-Saharan Africa by 2030. The programme would also aim to increase electricity production in sub-Saharan Africa to 30,000 MW within the same timeframe. Clearly, this initiative, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), aims to support the continent’s growth through access to quality energy at affordable prices. The Yali is a leadership training programme for young Africans that was launched in 2008 at the request of former US President Barack Obama. The Yali has four centres in Africa: Senegal, Ghana, South Africa and Nigeria.
