AFRICITIES 2018 FAIR: The venue to design the development of African cities

Pollutec Morocco, the leading trade fair for environmental professionals, remains steadfast in its initial vocation to support the Kingdom's proactive approach to the environment and sustainable development.

Organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development, the Secretariat of State for Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Industry, Investment, Trade and the Digital Economy, the event is THE MEETING PLACE between Moroccan, African and international actors in a rapidly expanding market.

Thus, 150 eco-companies from 18 countries (59% international), including many leaders, ambassadors/loyalists of the exhibition, but also first-time exhibitors (46%), will present their equipment, technologies and services to the 6,000 professional visitors expected.

Pollutec Morocco is once again offering a wide range of targeted conferences, and will host the presentation of the 4th Environment Trophies by a jury of experts. The exhibition’s influence on the African continent continues by offering Guinea Conakry the status of the guest of honour this year, but also by making available to actors wishing to develop in Africa, a place to establish contact with delegations of African project leaders.

The 2018 edition focuses particularly on innovation with the creation of 3 new animation zones – the Pitch Space, the B2B Meeting Space and the Startup Space – and gives a prominent place to the Sustainable City.

Focus on the Sustainable City: Challenges and solutions for the sustainable development of Morocco’s cities

Researching and implementing solutions today to address current and future issues related to our urban lifestyles are obligations that all cities must meet. By dedicating an exhibition space and a half-day of conferences to the Sustainable City, Pollutec Morocco wants to make its contribution to the building.

For the very first time, the Sustainable City Space will feature the participation of institutional investors such as the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development and expert eco-companies such as Derichbourg Maroc, Hyundai and Tramont International.

In the meantime, the dedicated conferences will be an opportunity for exchanges and debates between professionals, institutional bodies and experts, around the Challenges and Solutions for the City of Tomorrow:

– The “Sustainable City” Forum, organised by the General Directorate of Local Authorities (DGCL), will focus on the implementation of the Sustainable City in the sectors of waste, water, air, energy and urban mobility.

– The 7th edition of the “Sustainable Territories” Symposium, organised by the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development and Association for Sustainable Development, Ecology and Environmental Preservation (dubbed ADEPE in French). On the agenda this year: an assessment of the current status of the functioning of the NSSD at the territorial level and an insight into the role of local authorities in its implementation.

– Finally, the Africa Forum will focus on an economy in which nothing would be lost, and everything would be transformed… in short, initiatives of the circular economy in Africa.
