“Innovate 4 Water and Sanitation”, is the name given to a major conference on wastewater management that Nakuru County will host from 25 to 28 March 2020. The event aims to develop innovative solutions for the collection, transport and treatment of wastewater and the recovery of sludge from effluent treatment in both towns and villages.

Such a conference is of primary concern to Nakuru County, which must fight against the pollution of its water points by wastewater from the towns and villages of the county. Lakes Naivasha, Nakuru and Elmenteita are particularly threatened by this pollution. Nakuru County is organising the conference, which will be attended by 1,000 delegates and 200 exhibitors from all 47 counties in Kenya, including providers of communal sanitation services, who will participate in the Innovate 4 Water and Sanitation event.

The event will also welcome researchers, professionals and industry. Discussions will focus on the central theme: “Accelerating the financing of smart water and sanitation solutions”. The Nakuru Wastewater Treatment Conference is supported by major development partners such as the German development agency Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the German international development cooperation agency, and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
