The 26th United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP26) takes place from 1st to 12th November 2021 in Glasgow, Scotland (UK). In the run-up to this global event organised by the United Nations, the Climate Chance organisation is dedicating the 3rd edition of its summit to preparing African actors for the major global challenges of sustainability and climate change.
The event takes place online from 15th to 17th September 2021 and will welcome non-state actors, i.e. local authorities, businesses, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), trade unions, youth movements, indigenous peoples, women’s organisations, scientists, representatives of the agricultural world, etc. According to Climate Chance, this event dedicated to the African continent will be a high point in the mobilisation on the issues of sustainability and the fight against climate change, a few weeks before the COP26.
During this global meeting, the States parties will have to present their second roadmap concerning their contributions to the global objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). The Climate Chance Africa 2021 Summit will have several highlights, including the day on September 15th, dedicated to the initiative of the Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa (CoM SSA) which will organise a one-day event highlighting the most pressing issues in climate change and access to climate finance in sub-Saharan Africa.
The event is also organised in workshops and focuses covering all key climate action issues. It will also be the occasion for the presentation of 70 projects and good practices of actors in the field.
