A total of 13,000 young people from 42 member states and governments of the International Organization of la Francophonie (OIF), including Benin, Burkina Faso, Gabon and Ivory Coast, were equipped on practices to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The training was provided by the Institut de la Francophonie pour la formation au développement durable (IFDD). The training was conducted online using the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), through an online course platform.
“Thanks to this training, I understood that sustainable development is the general awareness, that it is necessary to change the system of production and consumption, that it is necessary to preserve the natural resources threatened everywhere in the world and to make efforts to fight against poverty. I suggest that these MOOCs be massively shared so that thousands of people around the world benefit from these trainings,” says Togolese Adom Manzama-Esso, one of the young participants in the OIF project.

Launched in 2017, the initiative still called “Objective 2030” has already trained about 270,000 young Francophones on the issues of sustainable development, environmental assessment of policies and development projects, environmental law, environmental management and natural resources, also on the trades and environmental technologies. The next training session which started on February 28, 2022 focuses on environmental economics and natural resources management.
